Nov. 12, 2007—The Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians has signed a 5-year contract with CH2M HILL OMI to operate and maintain the tribe’s brand-new water and wastewater facilities, effective Nov. 1.
The Creekside water and wastewater system supports several businesses owned and operated by the tribe, including the Seven Feathers Hotel and Casino Resort, a restaurant, an RV resort, and a truck/travel center located along Interstate 5 near Roseburg, Ore. – which serve thousands of visitors every day.
The .5-mgd water plant and .7-mgd wastewater plant feature state-of-the-art technologies and were built during the past two years. CH2M HILL OMI has been providing consulting and start-up services to tribal officials, and the work subsequently blossomed into a full-contract-operations agreement.
“This is a first-class organization filled with smart, committed business leaders,” says Steve Witbeck, CH2M HILL OMI project manager for the site. “They see the value in investing to create sustainable, high-quality infrastructure and projects for the future. It’s a pleasure to work with a strong partner like the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Indians.”
CH2M HILL OMI also partners with the neighboring Roseburg Urban Sanitary Authority. CH2M HILL OMI has managed Roseburg’s wastewater treatment system since 1984. |
