Committed to the community

Our company’s deep commitment to community service and philanthropy is one of the ways we aim to set ourselves apart from our competitors. Whether we support large, global projects like Water For People or simply participate in a local riverbank clean-up, every act helps strengthen our corporate core value of “enhancing the environment quality of life in the communities in which we serve.”

Employees are encouraged to apply their talents not only to delivering great work to our clients but also to volunteering to make the world a better place. Each CH2M HILL OMI project site receives specific funding to devote to community relations activities they choose in their local city, county or region.

While many worthwhile causes exist, to achieve maximum impact we align our community relations efforts to three general areas:

Protection of the environment, such as clean water campaigns, river/beach cleanups, planting trees and cleaning parks.
Education activities, such as open houses or plant tours, school programs and support, and speaking engagements.
Social activities, such as disaster relief, helping the homeless and volunteering for hunger-relief programs.

At a company-wide level, we support two primary organizations: the global nonprofit Water For People and World Water Monitoring Day, which helps educate people about the importance of water resources.

Our people have proved their commitment to helping their neighbors during times of emergencies and tragedies too. Employees in Florida have responded time and again to help restore neighborhoods in the wake of hurricanes. And in Indonesia, after the devastating 2004 tsunami, CH2M HILL OMI staff helped start up a donated water treatment plant to bring safe water to the community of Banda Aceh.
